Position Purpose

Responsible for implementing, sustaining, and evaluating a marketing and public relations program that advances the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters, A Community of Caring while positioning the organization as the premier mentoring choice in Allegan, Calhoun, Kalamazoo and Van Buren Counties. Working closely with the CEO, Fund Development Department, staff, and consultants.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for strategic content development, execution and distribution to multiple channels, maintaining a professional look and feel, and implementing new functions to better serve target audiences
  • Support all aspects of the coordination and creation of targeted communications, including the coordination of writing, editing, creative design and distribution
  • Collaborate with vendors to implement and track multi-channel digital marketing
  • Integrate social media strategies with forward-thinking content and communication plans across various outlets to amplify our message, engage stakeholders, and build new audiences.
  • Identify and use KPI results to ensure marketing programs are maximized. Determine actionable solutions for continuous improvement
  • Writes compelling copy for web, advertising, social, and email. Must be able to quickly turn around content and maintain a high level of professionalism and consistency.
  • Design content for internal teams and senior leadership
  • Integrate all digital activities and content to create a holistic, consistent experience.
  • Support crisis and emergency communications as necessary
  • Serve as a staff presence on the Fund Development Committee
  • Work with event committees to ensure four successful fundraising events per year
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience)
Years of Related Work Experience: Two or more years of experience in external communications, marketing, and/or public relations. (or equivalent experience)

Travel Requirements

Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance that meets the state’s requirements, and be able and willing to travel as needed (generally locally).

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Must be able and willing to work additional hours as needed to complete tasks; this could involve some limited evenings or weekends.
