Board Member Spotlight
In this month's Board Member Spotlight we feature Shaun Willis.
on board: Ten years with nine years on the Benefit Dinner committee and two years co-chairing the planned giving committee.
Place of employment:
Willis Law, firm co-founder and managing partner
you support the agency: I was blessed with an
amazing mother and father, Judge Frank and Bobbi Willis out of Paw Paw and
blessed with wise mentors growing up as well, that helped shape my character,
helped to build my faith in Jesus Christ, and demonstrate to me how to live a
successful life. I saw friends of mine that did not have that support
system or faith growing up, who now are lost, or essentially limited by their
own lack of confidence or lack of knowledge on how to be successful, this has
had a great impact on me and my heart was and is troubled by their
situation. A strong leader in their lives could have changed their
path. Many of our youth in the greater Kalamazoo area do not have the same
parent unit, nor the access to the mentors and wisdom sources that I had.
Because of that, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to help those that have
not been afforded those hands up that I was.
Fun fact: I have the world’s finest
lady as my wife, Corrina Maria Willis, and we have seven amazing children. I
also rode a bull named Demolition in Georgia at an Army rodeo while visiting a
friend who was on leave from the Army back in the college days.
Words you live by: “Trust in the Lord with
all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding, acknowledge the Lord in
all of your ways, he will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3: 5-6
“The only thing necessary
for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. When evil men plot, good
men must plan.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
you, Shaun, for changing lives with Big Brothers Big Sisters!
