Match of the Month: Logan and Joe

Congratulations to our August 2021 Match of the Month: Little Brother Logan and Big Brother Joe!

Match of the Month is a new feature for 2021. Each month a match will be celebrated with this special recognition. This award honors a match’s dedication to each other and commitment to living out the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan – empowering the potential of youth through one-to-one mentoring.

Logan and Joe, who have been matched since October 2020, have made significant strides in their match relationship, especially given they were matched during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Logan was a little shy in the beginning, but Joe’s consistency allowed Logan to relax and settle into being his true, energetic and upbeat self during their match meetings. Most recently, Joe and Logan went fishing on the Kalamazoo River. Logan mentioned the idea and Joe rolled with it!  Joe shared that he and Logan really enjoyed the experience, and they look forward to exploring this new interest together!

Big Brothers Big Sisters asks each of its matches to define 3 goals they would like to accomplish as part of their match. Joe and Logan named these:

  • Build increased social skills
  • Learn a new skill together (Fishing counts!)
  • Develop their friendship (They are well on their way!)

Congratulations, Joe and Logan! We are so happy to be supporting your match. We look forward to hearing more about your fun adventures together.
