Meet the Match: Brey’On and Isaac

Congratulations to Little Brother Brey’On and Big Brother Isaac on their new friendship with each other! Brey’On and Isaac are a Community Match, which means they spend time together in the community for at least two hours, twice per month.

CHECKMATE!

Brey’On and Isaac met in June. Their shared love for being outdoors, being active, and playing chess are the reasons our team paired these two.

Isaac, an Illinois native and former basketball coach, is passionate about giving back to the community. He feels strongly about helping youth overcome obstacles.

Brey’On, an 8th grade student who lives with his mom and older sister, is excited to have someone to talk to and hang out with. He enjoys cooking and baking, and is looking forward to sharing this skill with Isaac!

INTENTIONAL MATCHING

Potential matches are all thought through carefully. Bigs and Littles who are paired have something in common or another foundation upon which to build their friendship. We call this “intentional matching.” In Brey’On and Isaac’s case, that foundation is a love for basketball and chess! This focus and care help ensure match quality and longevity.

GOALS

Big Brothers Big Sisters asks each of its matches to define goals they would like to accomplish as part of their match. Matches discuss new goals on an annual basis. Brey’On and Isaac identified the following goals:

  • Help Brey’On improve his behavior in the classroom
  • Spend time cooking and baking
  • Improve their basketball skills

Congratulations, Brey’On and Isaac! We are so happy to support your match, and cannot wait to hear about all of the fun you get up to!
