Big Pride

In the Big Pride mentoring program LGBTQIATS+ mentors are matched with LGBTQIATS+ youth (aged 12-16).

Together, they form a supportive friendship to help the mentee realize and own their potential. The mentor helps to guide and support the Little through their teen years.

EXPECTATIONS OF MENTORS (BIGS)

  • Submit the online enrollment application
  • Participate in an in-depth interview with an Enrollment Specialist
  • Consent to participating in a series of layered background and reference checks
  • Spend at least 2 hours, twice per month with your Little
  • Commit to being matched with your Little for at least 1 year
  • Agree to check in with your Mentoring Relationship Specialist (MRS) once per month to check on your relationship with your Little

EXPECTATIONS OF THE PARENT/GUARDIAN

  • Submit the online enrollment application
  • Participate in an in-depth interview with an Enrollment Specialist to learn what the child needs in a Big in order to be successful
  • Participate in monthly match support phone calls with their MRS
  • Stays in touch with their child’s mentor

EXPECTATIONS OF YOUTH (LITTLES)

  • Be willing and interested in being a part of the program
  • Participate in an in-depth interview with an Enrollment Specialist to learn what would make the best Big in their eyes
  • Participate in monthly match support phone calls/texts with their MRS
  • Stay in touch with their mentor
